This Vredehoek home is currently being restored to its former Victorian heritage. Plans are in the final stage of approval and the Heritage Western Cape [HWC] heritage permit has already been obtained. A Section 34 Application and heritage statement was completed in accordance with the process as set out within the National Heritage Resources Act (NHRA Act no. 25 of 1999) for proposed intervention at Maynard Street, Vredehoek. The proposal triggers Section 34 of the NHR Act A section 34 application was previously approved by Heritage Western Cape for this Victorian styled home.
The brief called for an investigation that serves to highlight heritage significance, identification of heritage indicators and list of recommendations for the proposed action. Scope and study approach thus included:

Assessing significance of identified heritage resources
Policy review in terms of relevant planning and / or conservation policy and/or principles, where appropriate
Analysis of the significance of heritage resources affected
Assessment of proposed intervention in terms of heritage impacts
Consultation with City of Cape Town Heritage Department and local conservation body
Consultation with local conservation body
Formulation of recommendations
Consultation with the relevant authorising agency: Heritage Western Cape
Completion date is set for 1 August 2017.
